Yes! Orvald is completely free for families. Care providers pay a small fee when a successful placement is made through our platform.
How do I know the information is accurate?
Care homes update their availability and pricing directly on our platform. We encourage providers to keep their information current and display "last updated" timestamps.
Can I enquire about multiple care homes?
Absolutely. We encourage you to enquire with several care homes to compare options and find the best fit for your loved one's needs.
What types of care homes are listed?
We list various types including nursing homes (verpleeghuizen), residential care (verzorgingshuizen), small-scale living (kleinschalig wonen), and more.
Do you cover all of the Netherlands?
Yes, we have care homes listed across all 12 provinces, with the most extensive coverage in the Randstad region.
Which care providers does Orvald work with?
Our marketplace includes verified care homes across the Netherlands, from large healthcare organizations to family-run facilities. All providers undergo the same vetting process, which includes care quality checks and verification of their registration with relevant Dutch healthcare authorities.
Why can't I find a specific care provider on Orvald?
A provider may not appear on Orvald if they lack current availability, haven't met our care quality standards, or haven't provided transparent fee information. All prospective partners must undergo our vetting process.
How is Orvald able to offer its service for free?
Orvald charges care providers a small advertising fee when we connect them with care seekers, similar to how platforms like Tripadvisor or Skyscanner work. This allows us to keep the service completely free for families.
What's the difference between a care home and home care?
A care home (verpleeghuis/verzorgingshuis) is a residential facility where you live and receive 24/7 care. Home care (thuiszorg) is professional support that enables you to stay in your own home, with carers visiting to help with daily activities, medical needs, or companionship.
